Owensville Police Department releases January Activity Report

Posted

Owensville Police Chief Scott Griffith provided his monthly activity report to the Board of Aldermen and city officials this week.

In his report, Griffith outlined the work Owensville Police Department (OPD) completed during the month of January along with numbers of incidents.

OPD has started discussing fundraisers for 2026 with the annual Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for March 28.

Zilgin Signs has added the decals to OPD’s new Dodge Durango. Griffith hopes to have the equipment installed in March and the vehicle in service soon thereafter.

Griffith and other officers continue to attend numerous community group meetings and required, in-person training is being scheduled and required online training is being completed. Griffith has appeared at two recent Gasconade County Commission sessions here and in Hermann to present a proposal for providing a cost-share program for security during the county fair held at Owensville’s Memorial Park (see related story on page 1).

Several investigations were taken during January including ordinance violations and reports of a missing person, stealing, harassment and assault which have led to misdemeanor and felony charges. Some cases are still open and being investigated.

During the month of January, OPD had 24 walk-ins, 14 summons issued, 37 total cases and 412 dispatched calls, traffic stops and other assigned situations.

Results of traffic stops conducted in January included four citations, 32 warnings, one arrest, one with no action taken and one “other” call handled.

Tickets issued included one for shoplifting, three for nuisance, one for driving while suspended or revoked, one failure to register or expired plates, one assault, one seat belt violation, four no insurance citations, one harassment and one disorderly conduct.

Owensville Code Enforcer Jeff Arnold reported four vehicle violations, one trash or junk violation and two trailer on the street violations with five corrected with a warning.
