Feeling blue last week after losses to South Callaway (5-3) and Montgomery County (11-1), Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball team hosted Wright City’s Lady Wildcats Monday night at OHS Field looking to end their regular season on a winning note.

Trailing 4-0 entering the bottom of the second inning, Owensville cut the lead in half to 4-2 before exploding for five runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth for a 9-4 lead after four innings.

Plating seven runs in the bottom of the fifth, three of them came off the bat of Bailee Dare on a walk-off three-run home run helping the Dutchgirls score a 16-6 mercy-rule victory in five innings over the visiting Lady Wildcats.

After allowing back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the second, Dutchgirl freshman starting pitcher Hannah Keeney limited the Lady Wildcats to just two runs on one hit and an error.

For the game, Keeney allowed six runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk to go with five strikeouts.

Dare inflicted the most damage at the plate for the Dutchgirls with a pair of doubles to go with her aforementioned home run.

Lainey Moss also led off Owensville’s seven-run bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run for one of her two hits on the night.

Clara Julius, Danika Hinson, Moss and Keeney each added two hits for the Dutchgirls against Wright City.

Emma Daniels, Kate Blankenship and Cailin Floyd also added a hit apiece.
