Gasconade County R-2 board accepts resignations, hires staff for 2026-27 school year

The Gasconade County R-2 Board of Education on April 20 approved hirings, nd resignations during an executive session.

At the beginning of the session, they approved staff resignations and releases from extra duty contracts with 6-0 votes, including OHS STUCCO co-sponsor and assistant drama sponsor Bethanie Ward effective at the end of the school year; OHS drama sets/lights sponsor Tyler Ahring, effective at the end of the school year; bus driver Route 8 Yvonne Schulte’s resignation effective April 9; Kayla Huebner, seven and ninth grade girls basketball coach, effective at the end of the school year; GES personal aide Angela Schneider, effective April 24; OMS art teacher Rylee Baumbach’s resignation effective at the end of the school year; OHS vo-ag teacher and bus driver Route 23 Cody Hendrix’s resignation effective at the end of the school year; OHS lead book Dionne McClary’s resignation effective May 15; OES librarian Donna Winter’s resignation effective at the end of the school year; and OHS STUCO co-sponsor Rick Hardy’s resignation effective at the end of the school year.

The board voted 5-1, with member Jenni Crosby against, to release OMS eighth-grade English language arts teacher Casey Brendel from her 2026-27 contract, pending all paid fees and paperwork completed.

The board approved hiring the following staff, including all staff and substitutes for summer school, with a 5-0-1 vote, with member Kaylynne Niederer abstaining. Also hired were Ryan Okenfuss as an assistant football coach for the upcoming school year with a 5-0-1 vote, Niederer abstained; Chris Pohlmann with a 6-0 vote to become an assistant football coach; Charlie Meyer was approved, 6-0, to become a middle school assistant football coach.

The board voted 6-0 to hire Dean Pohlmann as an offensive coach for middle school football.

Emily McKinney was approved with a 6-0 vote to become an assistant volleyball and seventh grade volleyball coach for the incoming school year.

The board voted 6-0 to employ Cam VanLeer as the ninth grade boys basketball coach.

Derrick Tyree was approved with a 6-0 vote to become an eighth grade boys basketball coach.

The board approved hiring Matt Kramme with a 6-0 vote as the head girls and eighth grade basketball coach for the upcoming school year. Kramme was also approved  6-0 to become an OHS science teacher.

Danny Branson was approved by the board with a 6-0 vote to become an assistant wrestling coach.

The board approved on a 6-0 vote to employ Jonathan Auferheide as the bus monitor for the town route.

The board voted 6-0 to approve Katelynn Tyree as an OMS FACS teacher for the upcoming school year.

Kristen LaGarce was approved with a 6-0 vote to become a fourth grade OES teacher pending a background check, training and paperwork.

The next board meeting will be at 6 p.m. on May 20 in the Administration Building.
