Ryan Oberrieder of Shawnee, Kan., came through Gerald Saturday morning as part of the Central Missouri Circuit 2026 Bicycle Race. He and 13 other cyclists began the competition at 9 a.m. Friday in Columbia. They followed a circuit of back roads that would eventually loop back to Columbia, a total of 343 miles.
Oberrieder clocked in at the Gerald Cafe (point #114 check in) at 10:18 a.m. Saturday. He ate lunch, then rode to the Rock Island Trail Retreat where he showered washed his bike, laundered his clothes and recharged his phone. He then headed north for the final leg of his journey through Hermann, Fulton and finally arriving back in Columbia at 9:46 a.m. Sunday morning.
Oberrieder said he would be returning to the Gerald area to explore the many gravel roads crossing the Rock Island Trail here.
