Donald Frederick Hess, 80, Leslie, passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2025.
He was born Nov. 26, 1944, to the late Frederick J. and Ellen (Greife) in St. Louis.
He had served his country with the U.S. Army.
Donald enjoyed farming, spending time with dogs and talking about family and military history.
He was preceded in death by parents, Frederick and Ellen; sister, Joanne Oliver; and longtime companion, Brenda Maune.
Donald is survived by children, Christine Robinson and husband Jeff of Bland, Edward Hess and wife Sheri and Walter Hess and wife Jessica, all of Leslie; sister, Sharon Wallace and husband Wally of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Nicholas Schulte and wife Krystal, Michael Robinson and wife Nicole, Danyee Barringhaus and husband Ben, Jacob Hess and wife Rachael, Brittany Kissell and husband Patrick and Colten Robinson; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Jaden, Ariella, Reagan, Sadie, Hallie, Tucker, Briggs and Hadley.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, followed by the funeral service at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville, with Pastor Rhonda Winters officiating.
His ashes will be divided between Leslie United Methodist Cemetery and his farms in a private ceremony.
Memorial contributions suggested to the Humane Society of Franklin County.
