Even in spite of their second consecutive season without a notch in the win column, Dustin Howard’s Owensville Dutchmen football team saw four of their players earn recognition from coaches in the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) following recent voting from the coaches.

Juniors Chase Crosby and Brady Watson were both All-FRC 1st Team selections at utility and punter respectively.

Watson also earned an All-FRC Honorable Mention nod at wide receiver while Wyatt Shaw and Henry Loeb were selected to the All-FRC Honorable Mention offensive and defensive lines respectively.

Spending the first seven weeks catching footballs, Crosby wound up throwing them instead due to injuries to starting quarterback Adam Wilson and back up signal caller Khai Krupp.

For the season, Crosby was 10-24 passing for 164 yards and two touchdowns while also catching a team-leading 27 passes for 188 yards and two more touchdowns.

He was also third on the team in rushing with 94 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns.

Crosby’s best game at receiver came against St. Francis Borgia where he caught 16 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown to go along with him returning the second-half kickoff for a touchdown against the Knights.

Union’s Blake Dewitt was also an All-FRC 1st Team selection as a utility player.

Keeping the Dutchmen in several games with his punting abilities, Watson averaged 38.5 yards per punt with a season-best boot of 72 yards.

Watson also placed seven punts inside the 20-yard line and four more inside the 10-yard line.

Also an All-FRC Honorable Mention pick at wide receiver, Watson finished his season with 19 catches for 270 yards receiving.

Watson’s best game at receiver also came against the Knights with 12 catches for 168 yards and a touchdown.

St. Clair’s Landon Baxter was also an All-FRC Honorable Mention pick at wide receiver.

Shaw was among Dutchmen lineman helping the Owensville offense rush for 609 yards and pass for 788 yards.

Joining Shaw as All-FRC Honorable Mention offensive line selections included St. Clair’s Colton Calhoun and Pacific’s Tyson Marrs.

Rounding out the Dutchmen quartet of All-FRC football selections, Loeb ended his senior season with 45 total tackles (30 solo) good for second on the team behind Steven Buddemeyer’s team-leading total of 48.

Loeb also led the Dutchmen with two sacks.

Registering nearly half of his tackles in one game, Loeb posted 21 total tackles (16 solo) against Borgia.

Two FRC football teams remain alive entering quarterfinal play this weekend with St. Clair’s Bulldogs hosting Osage in Class 3 and Sullivan’s Eagles hosting Festus in Class 4.

Both quarterfinal showdowns will kick off at 1 p.m.
