Already staring at a 48-0 halftime deficit, Dustin Howard’s Owensville Dutchmen football team managed to get their zero off the scoreboard in the second half.

In the closing seconds of the third quarter, a bad snap on a Sullivan punt went out of the back of the end zone giving the Dutchmen a safety and two points on the scoreboard entering the fourth quarter.

Two minutes into the fourth quarter, Dutchmen signal caller Chase Crosby called his own number on an 8-yard touchdown run before connecting with Brady Watson on a pass for the two-point conversion making it 48-10 at that point.

Sullivan scored one more touchdown putting Owensville on the wrong end of a 55-10 final score.

“You just have to tip your hat to Sullivan tonight,” Howard said. “They were simply the better team and they have one heck of a running back who went over 1,000 yards for a second consecutive season.”

Khai Krupp started the game at quarterback before a shoulder injury forced him out of the game in the first half and moved Crosby from catching balls at wide receiver to throwing them as a quarterback.

Krupp was 1-3 for 16 yards before Crosby came in and went 5-14 for 88 yards and a touchdown.

Watson caught all five of Crosby’s passes.

Liam Rasmussen led Owensville on the ground with 22 yards rushing on 10 carries while Crosby had six carries for 18 yards rushing.

Henry Loeb ran the ball five times for five yards while Connor Wellman had a carry for four yards.

Defensively, Loeb led the orange and black with six total tackles followed closely with five stops from Mason Turner.

Will Coppedge and Crosby each added four total tackles to go along with three stops from Aiden Carpenter.

Recording two tackles apiece for OHS were Cael Walker and Brendan Kramme.

Garnering one tackle each were Bo Buddemeyer, Tucker Crosby, Watson, Wyatt Shaw, Wyatt Bone, Elliott Phillips, Payten Pendleton, Diego Lansford and Wellman.

Owensville will look to avoid their second consecutive winless regular season when they will host St. Clair this Friday night for senior night at Dutchmen Field with a 7 p.m., kickoff.

Sullivan was led offensively by Mark Jennings who ran the ball 14 times for 224 yards and five touchdowns.
