Lucille Smith, 89, Owensville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born Jan. 19, 1936, to the late Ernie Joseph and Zelma Elizabeth (Leach) Adams in Ellington.
She was united in marriage to Clarence Smith July 4, 1952, in Oceanside, Calif.
Lucille was a member of Christ Community Church in Owensville, a Lifetime Member of Gasconade County Historical Society, Daughters of American Revolution in Union, Phi Beta Kappa, National Honor Society, Dean’s List, President’s List and Who’s Who of Junior Colleges of America.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clarence; parents, Ernie and Zelma; brother, Donald Adams; son, Gary Smith and grandson, Thomas Smith.
Lucille is survived by sons, Joe Smith of Owensville, David Smith of Fort Smith, Ark., Steven Smith and wife Nelda of Phillipsburg, Darrell Smith and wife Sun Tok of Dardeen Prairie and Rick Smith and wife Sharon of Martinsburg,W.V.; daughter, Cheryl Smith-Wilmoth and husband Frank of New Bloomfield; brother, Dennis Adams and wife Carmen of Dixon; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 17, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, with Pastor Shane Jarvis officiating. Interment was in Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville.
