Richard Michael Dunne, Sr., 93, Owensville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Stonebridge Rehab in Owensville.
He was born Nov, 10, 1932, to the late Richard Martin and Ona Edith (Browning) Dunne in Stanton.
He was united in marriage to Shirley McCrary June 9, 1952, in Sullivan.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He farmed all of his life as well as working many years at Tucker Motor Company in Sullivan until retirement.
Richard enjoyed “driving on the porch” and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Owensville.
He was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Ona; sister, Maxine Steenburgen and husband Bert; and brother, Tony Dunne and wife Shirley.
Richard is survived by mother of his children, Shirley of Lexington, Ky.; children, Patricia Peets of Owensville, Mary Racer-Ota and husband Nobby of Owensville and Rick Dunne, Jr. and wife Darla of Gerald; brothers, Patrick Dunne and wife Jackie of Sullivan and James Dunne and Jean Deaton of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Jarrett Racer, Aimee Garrett, Josh Flamion and wife Laura, Melissa Vance and husband Jeff, Jason Peets and wife Candace and Aaron Peets and wife Audrey; and great-grandchildren, Alex, Andrea, Abigail, Avery, Sebastian, Mary Grace and Christopher.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., (today) Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville with Fr. Kevin McGrane officiating. Interment was in St. Anthony Cemetery in Sullivan.
Memorial contributions may be given for family’s choice or to St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
