Hosting their Highway 100 neighbors to the east in New Haven’s Lady Shamrocks last Tuesday night, Tess Schannuth’s Hermann Lady Bearcats went for the sweep in the varsity match after winning the JV and C team matches earlier in the night.
Taking the first set 25-13, Hermann went on to take the next two completing the sweep of New Haven winning the varsity match 25-13, 25-12 and 25-7.
Senior Ashlyn Hughes led the Lady Bearcats with 11 kills followed with seven kills from Jillian Fredrick.
Kalli Landolt and Hannah Epple each added four kills.
Landolt also added a match-high five aces followed closely with four aces from freshman Brynlee Ash.
Hughes and Epple also served two aces apiece.
Jaelee Kahler and Hughes each led Hermann with two blocks against the Lady Shamrocks.
Chloe Brune and Hughes paced Hermann in the dig department with seven each.
Epple added five digs followed closely by Tenley McFadden with three digs.
Kahler and Ash both dished out a match-high 12 assists for the Lady Bearcats.
Hermann needed three sets to win the JV match over New Haven by scores of 25-15, 22-25 and 25-22 while their ‘C’ team counterparts turned back the Lady Shamrocks in two sets 25-11 and 25-15.
Two nights later last Thursday in FRC action against St. Clair, Hermann’s ‘C’ team won their match in two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-12 while their JV and varsity counterparts suffered losses.
Schannuth’s varsity squad fell in three sets 25-23, 27-25 and 25-22 while the JV Lady Bearcats fell in two sets 25-18 and 25-21.
