Falling 10-0 last Monday night against Eldon at OHS Field, Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball team looked to get back on the winning track in a Four Rivers Conference (FRC) showdown against St. Clair’s Lady Bulldogs.

Trailing 3-2 after one inning, the orange and black scored 14 of the game’s next 16 runs helping themselves go on to a 16-5 victory in five innings.

Out hitting the Lady Bulldogs nine to six, Claire Oswalt had two hits, two walks and two runs batted in (RBI) to pace the Dutchgirl offense.

Dallas Miller also had a pair of hits and a run scored.

Ryan Miller chipped in a hit to go with two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks.

While the top of the order did damage, the bulk of the offense was accounted for by the bottom half of the Dutchgirl line up.

Kabren Kelley had a hit, a walk and two runs scored while Trinity Rossi drew a pair of walks to go with a hit, a RBI and three runs scored.

Along with earning the complete-game victory in the circle, Dutchgirl starting pitcher Shae Abernathy, walked twice, scored three runs and added a RBI.

Rylee Dare also scored twice to go with a hit and a RBI from the ninth spot in the lineup.

Halle Thompson also scored twice as a courtesy runner.

Abernathy pitched all five innings allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

Owensville also won the JV game 11-2 over St. Clair behind two walks and two runs scored from Addie Stranghoener.

Lilly Raaf, Kinley Troncin and Thompson each also had a RBI against St. Clair.

During last Monday’s loss to Eldon, Ryan Miller and Rossi each drew a pair of walks while Oswalt hit a one-out double in the bottom of the fourth inning breaking up Eldon’s bid for a no-hitter in varsity action.

Dropping a 7-2 decision in JV action against Eldon, Owensville got a hit and a run scored from Dare while Anieya Bergesch and Raaf also had base hits.

In their October softball opener last Thursday at Rolla, Owensville tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the third inning before the host Lady Bulldogs plated four unanswered runs leaving the orange and black on the wrong side of a 10-6 final score.

Abernathy led the Dutchgirl offense against Rolla with three hits and two RBIs.

Cameron Ryerson and Oswalt each also had two hits for OHS.

Hannah Keeney took the loss pitching two and a third innings allowing eight runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk.

Owensville also fell 5-4 in the JV game at Rolla.

Hosting South Callaway’s Lady Bulldogs last night (Tuesday) at OHS Field, Owensville will welcome Montgomery County’s Lady Wildcats to southern Gasconade County for a Highway 19 softball showdown that will also serve as senior night for the orange and black tomorrow (Thursday) night.
