For Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball team, it was a busy middle of the week with three matches in the span of three days beginning last Tuesday night on the road in Four Rivers Conference (FRC) action against St. Clair’s Lady Bulldogs.
Courtney Hinson’s freshman Dutchgirls opened the night with a two-set win by scored of 25-19 and 25-19 before Emily McKinney’s JV Dutchgirls dropped their match in two sets by identical scores of 25-19.
Ridenhour’s varsity Dutchgirls fell to St. Clair in three sets 35-33, 25-17 and 25-23.
Last Wednesday hosting Rolla’s Lady Bulldogs, it was nearly a clean sweep of all three matches for the orange and black.
Freshman action went to the Dutchgirls in two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-22 while their JV counterparts fell in three sets 23-25, 25-23 and 25-12.
Capping volleyball action against Rolla, Owensville won a back-and-forth showdown in five sets by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 18-25 and 15-13.
Hosting Pacific last Thursday in another FRC showdown, Hinson’s freshman kept the visiting Lady Indians from a sweep with a win in two sets 25-21 and 26-24.
JV action went to Pacific in two sets 25-21 and 25-13 while varsity action saw Owensville fall in three sets 25-14, 25-19 and 25-17.
Monday night at the Hermann Invitational Volleyball Tournament, Owensville competed in pool play against Washington, St. Francis Borgia and St. James.
Swept by Washington and Borgia in two sets, Owensville turned the tables in their final pool match with a two-set sweep of St. James.
Ridenhour’s Dutchgirls will play for consolation hardware tomorrow (Thursday) at 4 p.m., in Hermann against the third-place team out of Pool B action last night (Tuesday).
