Owensville’s summer paving project is in full progress this week. Paving began last week with parking lots at Memorial Park and continued Monday on the west end with L&D Drive and Roller Drive (above). Pierce Asphalt won the city bid. Work was continuing Tuesday on streets surrounding a water line extension project the length of Sixth Street and connecting back to Highway 28 at Fifth.

A young bear climbs the hillside Sunday morning before crossing Highway 28 near Henry Lane. The bear was last seen heading into the wooded area above the Memorial Park arena. This is the second bear sighting in town in the past three years.
